The PortaPack AIS receiver decodes information coming from vessels and base stations, on one of two selectable VHF frequencies, 161.975 MHz (channel 87B) or 162.025 MHz (channel 88B).Others frequencies can be added to the SD Card Under AIS.
The recents view shows two columns, the Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) and the vessel name or call sign, if it was received. by selecting the received data line this opens a detailed view, giving the most recent details received from the vessel. It should be noted that dependant on the activity of the vessel that the information will be sent every few minutes to every few seconds if traveling at speed.
